Face Fit Testing Services
Face fit testing is a method of assessing whether a tight-fitting respiratory face mask is suitable for the wearer. It is a legal requirement that employers provide suitable respiratory protective equipment (RPE) for their employees and that this RPE fits the wearer properly.
We take the health and safety of our clients very seriously. We are fully accredited by fit2fit to carry out both quantitative and qualitative face fit testing, using the latest techniques and equipment. We understand that not everyone is familiar with the process of face fit testing, which is why we offer a comprehensive service that includes everything from providing the necessary RPE to carrying out the test itself.
Quantitative Fit Testing (QNFT)
Portacount Method:
The test uses a machine which provides a numerical measurement, of how well a tight-fitting respirator seals against the wearer’s face. This is called a fit factor. This test gives an objective measurement of a face fit. The test takes 10 minutes, is easy to administer and provides a more accurate result than the Qualitative Method.
The QNFT method is suitable for FFP disposables, reusable Half Masks and also Full-Face Masks.
Qualitative Fit Testing (QLFT)
Hood, Taste Test Method:
This is a pass/fail subjective test, based on whether the candidate can taste a bitter or sweet-tasting aerosol solution. Which is introduced into a hood whilst they are wearing a tight-fitting respirator. If the solution is not tasted during the testing process, then the mask is sealing properly and is suitable for use.
QLFT method is suitable for disposable and reusable half masks only.
